The April 1 launch of the next version of the Uniform CPA Examination is fast approaching. If you are planning to sit for the exam over the coming months, take note that there will be score holds for the Q2, Q3 and Q4 testing windows. This hold allows the AICPA Board of Examiners (BOE) to analyze candidate performance data along with approving the passing score. This is common practice among high-stakes testing programs to ensure the validity and reliability of a substantively updated CPA Exam.
Scores will be released once following the close of the testing windows. The anticipated score release dates are as follows:
Q2 Testing window beginning April 1 and closing May 31
Score Release: Aug. 16 – 18
Q3 Testing window beginning July 1 and closing Sept. 10
Score Release: Sept. 22
Q4 Testing window beginning Oct. 1 and closing Dec. 10
Score Release: Dec. 22
If these score holds will impact your 18-month timeline for overall completion of the CPA Exam, please contact your state board of accountancy for guidance.
