How to earn an AICPA Foundation Legacy Scholarship
Submit one application for all AICPA Foundation Legacy Scholarships
The AICPA Foundation Legacy Scholarships reward over 100 annual recipients, ranging from $3,000 to $10,000 for their accounting education and needs. These recipients are known as AICPA Legacy Scholars, a well-connected community of students who passionately pursue their accounting ambitions.
All students have the opportunity to earn an AICPA Foundation Legacy Scholarship. Whether you’re a community college student who’s transferring to a four-year accounting program, a graduate student who’s well on their way to becoming a CPA or somewhere in between, you are welcome to apply.
You only need to submit one online application, and you’ll be considered for all the AICPA Foundation Legacy Scholarships you are eligible for.
The AICPA Foundation Legacy Scholarships that you may qualify for:
Important dates to remember:
- December 1st: Application opens.
- March 15th: All applications must be submitted (in full) before 11:59 PM EST. No exceptions.
- August 1st: AICPA Foundation Legacy Scholarships will be awarded on, or before, this date.
Who can apply?
- A U.S. Citizen or legal permanent resident (green card holder).
- Good academic standing (at least 3.0 GPA on 4.0 scale).
- Completed at least 30 semester hours (or equivalent) of college coursework, including at least 6 semester hours (or equivalent) in accounting, by end of spring semester.
- AICPA Student Affiliate members. Apply for free student membership here.
What do you need to apply?
- Prepare a resume – you can use the Career Launchpad Program to build and improve your resume.
- Obtain unofficial transcript from your current and prior institution if applicable.
- Get two references with one coming from either a faculty member or a licensed CPA—and get their contact information so you’ve got it when you need it for your scholarship application.
Good time management skills can help divide the application process into bite-sized tasks that make it as easy as possible. Staying on top of each step along the way can reduce your stress and increase your chances of turning in the most effective application possible. You’ll also want to be sure to give your entire application and short answer responses one final review before submitting it.
