Program Overview

The Atlanta Alliance of Black Accountants (AABA) provides scholarships to undergraduate and graduate minority students majoring in accounting, finance, and business who have demonstrated academic and leadership excellence. Scholarships ranging from $500 up to $2,500 per recipient are awarded annually to deserving students. A student must have at least one semester left in school in order to qualify for the scholarship.

Program Background

The Atlanta Alliance of Black Accountants (AABA) provides scholarships to undergraduate and graduate minority students majoring in accounting, finance, and business who have demonstrated academic and leadership excellence. Scholarships ranging from $500 up to $2,500 per recipient are awarded annually to deserving students. A student must have at least one semester left in school in order to qualify for the scholarship. Scholarships will be presented at the Atlanta Alliance of Black Accountants Awards Celebration. The actual cash awards will be issued upon receipt of proof of enrollment for the period covered by the award. Scholarship recipients MUST attend the Atlanta Alliance of Black Accountants Eddie Nesby Jr. Scholarship and Awards Celebration (“Atlanta Alliance of Black Accountants Awards Celebration”) and will be notified in advance regarding seating and guests. Awards are made for the following academic year. Applicants in 2025 should be pursuing Atlanta Alliance of Black Accountants scholarships for the 2025 – 2026 school year. Awards will be made payable to the recipient. It is your responsibility to ensure that your financial aid office and registrar have enough time (usually three to four weeks) to get the required items to you or AABA.

Requirements

An eligible applicant must:

  • Be an ethnic minority enrolled in an undergraduate Accounting, Finance or related business degree program or a Master’s level business program.
  • Be an AABA member in good standing. AABA membership is currently free. Please visit http://atlantaaba.org to sign up.
  • Be a Georgia resident attending college OR a student currently enrolled at a Georgia college or university as a full-time (12 semester hours or equivalent), undergraduate student or be a full-time graduate student (9 semester hours or equivalent) enrolled or accepted into a master’s level business program in the state of Georgia.*
  • Have completed at least 3 hours of accounting classes.
  • Have demonstrated academic excellence and extracurricular involvement

*Students are required to provide evidence of enrollment in the semester following the award date.
