Program Overview
Since 1969, NABA, Inc (Formerly National Association of Black Accountants, Inc.) has provided millions in scholarship funds to deserving students through the generous contributions of individuals and partner organizations that share NABA's desire to break through the economic barriers that minority students often experience. Each year, NABA offers students scholarships nationally, regionally, and locally.
Program Background
In 2022/2023, NABA Greater Hartford provided more than $30,000 in scholarships ranging from $1,000 - $5,000 to local students in the Greater Hartford, CT and Providence, RI regions. To date, over $150,000 has been awarded via this local scholarship program.
The Greater Hartford Chapter of NABA, Inc. Scholarship applications will be accepted if completed online by 11:59 p.m. on February 15. Also, transcripts, letters of recommendation, and other requirements must be submitted by this date to be accepted. Recipients will be notified via email and posted on the NABA GHC website.
NABA's mission is to engage, empower, and educate Black Business Leaders and institutions by providing a platform to enhance skills and elevate voices with our 5 Es: engage, empower, educate, enhance, and elevate. By doing so, we’re “lifting as we climb.”
Requirements
ELIGIBILITY:
- Identify as Black, African American or of African descent
- Be an active NABA student member, whose membership dues have been received by NABA’s National Office (Join NABA)
- Enrolled at an accredited 2-year college or 4-year university based in Connecticut, Rhode Island, or Western Massachusetts
- Display overall academic excellence
REQUIREMENTS:
- Complete an online application
- Be an AICPA Student Affiliate member (or have submitted a new member application). Apply online at no cost: www.thiswaytocpa.com/join-aicpa.
- Submit current academic transcript
- Resume
- Headshot
- Personal statement describing your involvement in NABA, your career objectives, leadership abilities, and community activities (no more than 100 words)
- 1 letter of recommendation
- 1 short essay (no more than 500 words) regarding NABA’s mission and your perspective on how it supports the next generation of Black Business Leaders
- You must attend the NABA Greater Hartford 14th Annual Night of Stars, date TBD (April 2024)
