Program Overview

NABA Greater Orlando Chapter is honored to continue with its tradition of assisting local students within our community to realize their educational dreams. Through the generous contributions of NABA’s corporate partners, members, and other organizations that share our desire, we are able to acknowledge and reward the achievements of our youth and to assist in breaking through the economic barriers minorities often experience.
Requirements
Applicant Must:
- Complete NABA Greater Orlando Chapter Scholarship Application.
- Have an overall and major GPA of at least 3.25 or better on a 4.0 scale.
- Be an ethnic minority who is currently enrolled as a full-time associate, undergraduate (12 semester hours or equivalent) or graduate student (9 semester hours or equivalent) or accepted into a master level business program.
- Be pursuing a degree in accounting, finance, or business administration.
- Be a paid student member of NABA at the time of application and at the time the award is distributed. Preference will be given to eligible students of the University of Central Florida (UCF) and Bethune-Cookman University (BCU) student chapters, however, eligible NABA members within the Southern Region are welcome to apply.
Special Note: Regardless of the circumstances, once becoming a professional member, you are not permitted to return to student status. Graduate students must have entered graduate school immediately after receiving their undergraduate degree in order to maintain student status and be eligible for a scholarship award.
- Be able to attend the NABA Greater Orlando Chapter Annual Evening of Honors virtual event on (TBD) in order to receive awarded scholarship.
- Send an official Fall academic transcript, current resume, and a letter of recommendation from a member of the accounting/business faculty at your college/university or from a non-relative who is familiar with your academic and/or professional performance (i.e. employer, adviser, faculty, etc.) Letters can be requested through the application.
- Submit a personal biography with the application. If awarded a scholarship, your personal introduction will be included in our scholarship program book.
- Submit an essay response of 200 - 500 words with the application. Choose one of the following topics:
- What does NABA's motto "Lifting As We Climb" mean to you? How do you apply the motto "lifting as we climb" now and will in the future as a professional?
- How did the COVID-19 pandemic impact you and your family? What life lessons did you learn that you will apply to life after the pandemic?
- In what ways do you think the COVID-19 pandemic impacted nonprofit organizations such as NABA? how should the organization continue to extend its motto, "Lifting As We Climb" during the pandemic?
- Provide ALL of the information requested in the application to be considered, no later than April 12, 2022 at 11:59 PM EST.
- Actual cash awards will be paid in two halves, one in the Fall 2022 semester and the second portion in the Spring 2023 semester. Students must prove full-time enrollment (12 credits minimum is considered full-time) to receive the full award.
